Michael Lunceford

After being elected to the Houston ISD (HISD) Board in 2009, Michael L. Lunceford became assistant secretary in 2011. He’s held leadership positions within the district for the past 17 years. He served on the HISD Bond Oversight Committee, the HISD District V Leadership Team, and HISD Parent Visionaries. Lunceford also participated in the school building committees for Henry Longfellow Elementary, Pin Oak Middle, and John J. Pershing Middle School. He also chaired the Master Plan Building Committee for Paul Horn Elementary. While his two children were in grades K-12, Lunceford volunteered as Horn Elementary PTO treasurer and auction co-chair. He was also a member of the PTO Auction Committee and football and volleyball booster clubs.
Lunceford received a bachelor of science degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. After graduating, he built a career in the energy field with Mobil Oil, Montex Exploration, Metfuel, and Penwell Energy. He is currently the vice-president of engineering for Pedernales Energy. He and his wife, Erin, are members of Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church.
