Qualifications & Characteristics
The superintendent, as chief executive officer, is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the superintendent to be the education leader of Georgetown ISD. The superintendent works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the vision of the district. In concert with the staff, parents, students, and community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain qualifications and characteristics as highly desirable in a superintendent:
Is a creative visionary leader who can effectively communicate that vision to the staff and community Is able to make the really difficult decisions when necessary and cite the rationale for the action taken Is able to work in partnership with a Board of Trustees; providing timely and accurate information about the District; presenting sound recommendations for action; and building a climate of candor, mutual trust, and cooperation

About Us
Georgetown, Texas has been ranked as one of the best small towns in America. Located 20 minutes north of Austin and 30 minutes from the Highland Lakes and the Texas Hill Country, Georgetown is convenient to both city nightlife and shopping and country relaxation. With a population of 30,000, Georgetown is also one of the fastest- growing communities in Central Texas.
Georgetown was founded in 1848, and its historic town square is lined by Victorian storefronts facing the Williamson Country courthouse. Georgetown was the recipient of a "Great American Main Street Award" in 1997. The historic district around downtown contains many National Historic Register homes and buildings. Restaurants, parks, shopping, and other attractions can all be found downtown. Georgetown is home to Southwestern University, one of the most prestigious liberal arts colleges in the Southwest.
