Qualifications & Characteristics
The superintendent, as chief executive officer (CEO), is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the CEO to be the education leader of Boyd ISD. The CEO works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the district's mission.
In concert with the staff, students, and the community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain characteristics and qualifications as highly desirable in a CEO:
A confident leader with a proven record of building successful teams and working collaboratively with different groups who can bring a new perspective to the district "People" person with a sense of humor and easy manner who motivates staff and students to excel by his or her presence, support, and positive example Accessible to all patrons and actively involved in activities throughout the district and community Able to work in partnership with a Board of Trustees and build a climate of candor, mutual trust, and cooperation An experienced administrator with a comprehensive view of education and a broad base of teaching and administrative experiences; has proven successful in increasing achievement levels of all students A superior communicator with refined interpersonal skills who is willing to listen and learn; interacts well with the staff and community Committed to maintaining a proper balance between academics and extracurricular programs Experienced fiscal manager who can work with bond issues, set priorities, and manage resources Flexible and can implement changes without undo turmoil or sacrificing our traditions Person of integrity with high moral standards and personal ethics
