Qualifications & Characteristics

The Board of Trustees has identified certain characteristics and qualifications as highly desirable in a superintendent/CEO:

  • Works in a partnership with the Board of Trustees to provide timely and accurate information; present sound recommendations for action; and build a climate of cooperation, mutual respect, and trust

  • Understands the value of diversity and demonstrates success in working with a population and culture similar to Gonzales ISD.

  • A motivational and visionary leader who can build an effective management team, defend difficult decisions, and communicate with superior interpersonal skills.

  • High moral standards, spiritual values and unquestioned integrity.

  • Shows clear evidence of raising achievement levels.

  • Sensitive to staff morale and supportive of all school district employees.

  • Visible, open, and approachable.

  • Student oriented with a balanced concern for all aspects of school district programming.

  • A former classroom teacher and experienced administrator with superintendent certification.

  • Maximizes available resources and projects future needs.

  • Empowers staff members to discharge their responsibilities independently while remaining knowledgeable and accountable for the district's overall progress.

  • Experienced in pursuing grant funding to supplement existing financial resources.

  • Committed to living in and being an active participant and leader in the community.
