Qualifications & Characteristics
The superintendent, as chief executive officer, is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the superintendent to be the educational leader of San Felipe Del Rio CISD. The superintendent works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the district's mission.
In concert with the staff, students, parents, and community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain characteristics and qualifications as highly desirable in a superintendent:

Understands the value of diversity and demonstrates success in working with a demographic population similar to San Felipe Del Rio CISD Works in a partnership with the Board of Trustees to provide timely and accurate information; present sound recommendations for action; and build a climate of cooperation, mutual respect, and trust Maximizes available resources and projects future needs A motivational and visionary leader who can build an effective management team, defend difficult decisions, and communicate with superior interpersonal skills Student oriented with a balanced concern for all aspects of school district programming Visible, open, and approachable Integrity and Strong Values Sensitive to staff morale and supportive of all school district employees Shows clear evidence of raising achievement levels Empowers staff members to discharge their responsibilities independently while remaining knowledgeable and accountable for the district's overall progress Experienced in pursuing grant funding to supplement existing financial resources Committed to living in and being an active participant and leader in the community A former classroom teacher and experienced administrator with central office and/or superintendent experience. Mission
The guiding philosophy of the District is based upon the ever changing goals and purposes of a democracy. The purpose of the District is to develop the whole individual in order to prepare him or her to be a useful and contributing member in a pluralistic society. In meeting this purpose, the District recognizes the cultural and linguistic pluralism of its student body and the need for the development of characteristics native to the individual student's immediate environment as well as the need for the development of the characteristics of the larger and broader environment in which the student shall function in the future.
