Qualifications & Characteristics
The superintendent, as chief executive officer(CEO), is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the CEO to be the educational leader of Paducah ISD. The CEO works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the district's mission.
In concert with the staff, students, and the community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain characteristics and qualifications as highly desirable in a CEO:
An effective communicator who is approachable and open; a "people" person
Has a reputation for being actively involved in district activities and visible throughout the community
Confident, optimistic leader with a proven record of building successful teams, improving academic performance, and working effectively with different groups
An experienced and certified principal, assistant superintendent or superintendent who can provide direction to the district through a collaborative planning process
An effective problem solver who reviews the facts, makes the tough decisions and supports those decisions with resources and personal commitment
Experienced in curriculum and instruction and school financial management
An honest person with high moral standards and personal ethics
Mission
The administration and staff of Paducah ISD are committed to providing an environment that allows full development of each student's potential abilities which will ensure that student's position in an institution of higher learning and/or as a productive citizen of the community.
