Qualifications & Characteristics
The superintendent, as chief executive officer, is accountable to the Board of Trustees, which expects the superintendent to be the education leader of Giddings ISD. The superintendent works closely with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement policies and programs designed to carry out the district's mission. In concert with the staff, students, parents, and community, the Board of Trustees has identified certain characteristics and qualifications as highly desirable in a superintendent:
Is an effective communicator with superior interpersonal skills who can make and defend difficult decisions that are best for students
Mission
Giddings ISD, through a model of shared decision making involving staff, parents, and community members, will provide an opportunity for all students to develop academic skills, future career readiness, social and civic responsibility, and to become contributing members of our society.
About Us
Giddings ISD is a 3A school with a student population from Pre-kindergarten through 12th grade of 1,811, with an increase of 20 kids from last year. The district provides support programs including Special Education, Gifted and Talented Education, Career and Technology Education, Advanced Placement, and Concurrent Credit. Support is provided for Special Education, Gifted and Talented Education, Career and Technology Education, Advanced Placement, and Concurrent Credit. The district has successful athletic and band programs and also hosts a UIL Literary Meet. The community is very supportive of the district and has excellent parent participation.
