OnSite: Environmental and Facilities Services

Training Offerings


All OnSite member districts are entitled to unlimited free training classes. A brochure with complete details can be provided to your district.

Member districts receive a quarterly newsletter that covers various environmental and facilities topics and information pertinent to school districts.

For more information on upcoming classes, contact OnSite at 512-467-0222 or 800-580-8272. Attendance is limited; prompt registration is required to guarantee your choice of training. Please see the current training schedule for course locations. At least two training sessions are held every year at TASB's Austin offices (12007 Research Blvd., Walker-Davis Conference Center).

Title: Asbestos Designated Person Training
Subject:

Addresses areas defined in the AHERA regulations for those responsible for the school district's asbestos program. Topics covered include asbestos detection, identification, and assessment; health effects associated with asbestos exposure; control options; and management plan components.

Title: Integrated Pest Management Coordinator Training
Subject:

This course meets the requirements outlined by the Texas Structural Pest Control Board for training a school district's Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Coordinator. Topics include regulatory requirements, administration of IPM in school pest control programs, principles of IPM, and pesticide safety practices. CEM credit for SPCB noncommercial applicator license.

Title: Indoor Air Quality Training
Subject:

Designed to help school officials manage indoor air quality complaints and concerns in a timely manner. Attendees receive information necessary to establish an indoor air quality management plan and discuss current IAQ legislation and regulation.

Title: Environmental/Facilities Regulatory Compliance
Subject:

An in-depth look at all environmental regulations that affect schools, and how to maintain compliances with the regulations. Topics included above-ground storage tanks, backflow prevention testing, playground safety, and much more.

Title: Grounds Management
Subject: 

This course examines proper practices in landscaping and grounds maintenance. Topics include soil moisture management, irrigation management, grading, soil amendments, nutrition plans, annual agronomy calendars, sports turf management, and equipment suggestions and maintenance.

Title: Hazardous Materials Coordinator
Subject:

This course offers assistance in the classification and inventory of waste management, recording and submitting quantity reports, and other issues regarding compliance with applicable federal and state agencies.

Title: Asbestos O & M Contractor
Subject:

This two-day course includes how to clean up asbestos spills and repair damaged asbestos-containing materials. Attendees are trained in the proper use of respirators, protective clothing, HEPA vacuums and repair procedures, personnel air monitoring procedures, fit-testing protocols, setting up mini-enclosures and regulated areas, and personal decontamination procedures.
