TASB’s Board Assessment Tool Promotes Excellent Governance

Uncover areas of strength and areas for growth with an assessment designed to take your school board to the next level with customized insights and results.

School boards that are ready to determine their areas of strength and opportunities for growth should start with the Texas Board Self-Assessment available to all TASB Active Members.

This tool, available by filling out a short form below, aligns with the State Board of Education’s Framework for School Board Development, which requires school boards to annually assess their “development needs both as a corporate body and as individuals.”

Using a survey format, the Texas Board Self-Assessment takes trustees through a series questions related to the five topic areas of the Framework for School Board Development:

  1. Vision and Goals
  2. Systems and Processes
  3. Progress and Accountability
  4. Advocacy and Engagement
  5. Teamwork and Synergy

The results are then analyzed by TASB staff to create a custom report with an in-depth profile that evaluates the board’s current governance practices and highlights areas for improvement. Boards that want to dig deeper can debrief the report in a session facilitated by TASB’s Board Development Services team.

To get started with the assessment, fill out the request form (log in using your TASB credentials).
