Half of Job Ads Now Contain Salary Information

According to Indeed, pay transparency has gained momentum over the last three years with 50 percent of job advertisements including salary information.

The pay transparency movement increased during the pandemic. During that time and continuing, we are seeing more state and local laws being passed that require employers to disclose the pay range for a position to applicants or employees. As laws are being passed regarding pay transparency, there are state and regional differences found that include:

  • Western states provide pay details at a higher rate than southern states.
  • Colorado is the leading state in regard to job ads featuring pay information.
  • Mississippi has the lowest transparency level, followed by Arkansas and Louisiana.

Including salary information in job advertisements can have several advantages, as it helps both employers and job seekers. Providing the salary information in a prominent place and easily readable format helps job seekers quickly assess whether the position aligns with their salary expectations and will attract candidates who are genuinely interested in the position. This can streamline the recruitment process and save valuable time for both the employer and applicants.
