Darden Reelected to State Association Board

Austin— Thomas Darden of Cooper ISD has been reelected to a three-year term on the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Board of Directors, representing TASB Region 8. The election was held during the Association’s 2023 Delegate Assembly on Sept. 30 in Dallas.

Darden has served on the Cooper ISD (CISD) Board of Trustees for more than 21 years and has been board president since 2002. A 2007 graduate of Leadership TASB, he has been active in the grassroots advocacy process since joining the CISD board and served as a TASB Legislative Advisory Council representative.

Additionally, he has served in leadership roles for the Northeast Texas School Boards Association and currently as a board member of the Delta County Appraisal District Board. Darden has been active in his community previously serving the Friends of Doctors Creek State Park and Delta County youth baseball association.

Darden holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University in College Station and a Master of Science in electrical engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington. He is currently a senior systems engineering manager for L3Harris, where he has worked for more than 38 years.
