DOL Launches Video Series on FLSA Compliance
The Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) recently released five videos on Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) compliance designed to help employers more easily understand their legal responsibilities.
Instead of reading through pages of legal text to gather information on topics like overtime and minimum wage, employers can now learn some of the basics of FLSA rules by watching the new user-friendly videos. The videos range from about four to seven minutes long and cover a variety of topics. Those that might be of interest to districts include:
- Deductions—Can I charge my employees for uniforms or other business expenses?
- Hours worked—Do I have to pay for that time?
- Overtime—When do I owe overtime compensation, and how do I pay it correctly?
The DOL stated it plans to add more videos on FLSA compliance in the near future, so check back with the Wage and Hour Division Video Library page periodically for new guidance.
