The expiration date of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) has been extended to May 31, 2027.

The only change made to Form I-9 was the extension of the expiration date. The content of the form, directions for completion, and list of acceptable documents remain the same.

Employers must use the Form I-9 with the edition date of August 1, 2023, which may have an expiration date of either July 31, 2026, or May 31, 2027. Either form may be used until its respective expiration date as noted at the top of the form.

Form I-9 with the most current dates can be found on the USCIS I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification webpage.  For more information on completing the form, visit I-9 Central.
