Three Reasons To Be a Presenter at SLI
The TASB Events team is looking for school leaders interested in presenting at the 2025 Summer Leadership Institute (SLI). The annual event draws hundreds of school board trustees at its two locations in San Antonio (June 11-14) and in Fort Worth (June 18-21).
Attendees not only have the opportunity to earn continuing education credits but also to network and learn with other school board members. Those who earn a spot as a presenter get additional benefits, including:
1. Bragging Rights
That’s right! This is your opportunity to showcase the innovative work your district is doing—the big wins, the creative solutions, and the successes you’ve had in tackling challenges. Your peers want to hear directly from those on the front lines, sharing insights from districts living it every day and making public education work for all Texas schoolchildren. "This is your moment to shine and share what’s working in your district," said Nicole Green, TASB senior planner, conferences & events. "We’re excited to highlight the efforts you’re making in areas like student success and community engagement, and we want to celebrate the impact you’re having across the state.”
2. Helping Others
Boards and districts across the state are facing similar challenges, and your experiences could make a difference. This is your chance to share what you’ve learned—what worked, what didn’t, and how others can apply your lessons to improve their processes. Your peers want insights straight from the districts living it every day, facing the same hurdles, and finding solutions. "The strength of our education system lies in sharing what works and learning from one another," said Green. "By offering your lessons learned, you can help fellow districts overcome similar challenges and build stronger, more resilient schools for Texas students.”
3. Building a Stronger Team
As the saying goes, teamwork makes the dream work. Developing a presentation with your colleagues is an opportunity to collaborate, strengthen your communication, and build a shared vision for your district’s success. Sharing your district’s story together not only highlights the hard work of your team but also deepens your collective understanding of how to make public education work for all Texas schoolchildren. "Presenting together fosters teamwork and brings you closer as a team,’ said Green. "It’s a great way to align your efforts, improve collaboration, and inspire your team to continue striving for excellence in education.”
Perks of Presenting
Presenting at the conference isn’t just a great way to share your insights—it also comes with some added perks to help minimize the financial burden on your district. If your session(s) are accepted, each district may receive:
- Up to two (2) “comped” registration fees per conference location.
- Up to five (5) VIP housing reservations per conference location.
These perks make it easier for your district to participate and enjoy the conference while showcasing your work and expertise!
Session applications are due March 14. Review the proposal guidelines and start working on your application today!
