TASB Grassroots Meetings
Make sure your board’s voice is heard by taking part in the TASB Advocacy Agenda process.
TASB Governmental Relations facilitates TASB Grassroots Meetings across the state during the first quarter of even-numbered years with the goal of understanding issues important to member school boards.
At these meetings, participants discuss and debate topics and concerns that will eventually be crafted into TASB Advocacy Agenda Priorities, which guide TASB’s work on behalf of members during the legislative session.
Additionally, school board members in attendance elect representatives to the TASB Legislative Advisory Council (LAC). This group has the responsibility of reviewing the list of proposed priorities from all regional grassroots meetings and recommending a final list of Advocacy Priorities to the TASB Board. The LAC also elects four of its members to serve on the TASB Legislative Committee to carry forward the LAC's voice throughout the process.
The Grassroots Meetings are designed to be accessible and convenient so school board members have the option of participating in the regional gathering closest to home.
